The Yes Dance - Featuring Maricris Calica

There’s an interesting relationship between the soul and the ego.

Some people might consider these to be separate from one another; however, I like to see both as a harmonious dance between two forces that lead us to our highest truth– our big YES.

I absolutely love that saying: “We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

To be a full being in all of our truth, we must unite both parts– human and soul to the center stage. It’s important to note that anytime the soul is called into the unknown, the ego activates and soon begins a tug of war within, if you will.

The beautiful thing is when we are in alignment, the heart will always win.

Always.

Here’s a few things to notice on the spiritual dance floor:

When the soul says YES, and the ego says “BUT…”

You’ve all heard about that thing with apologies. Anytime you say sorry, and you add the “but” at the end… you’re essentially diminishing its level of sincerity.

If we take a deeper look at our soul’s YESES, we might find an overall sense of freedom, clarity, peace, and joy.

It feels expansive and limitless. However, anytime we add the “but” afterwards, we then create conditions that negate it; leaving us with a sense of frustration, resistance, or confusion.

The recipe for your YES is to let your heart lead with faith and trust!

The soul and the ego have specific guttural sounds.

Resonance is that thing that naturally vibrates to match the vibrations of another, creating harmony and connection.

When you’re presented with new information that speaks to your heart, notice the sounds you’re making that are in resonance with your highest vision.

For me, my yeses make that “Ahhhhhh” or “Mmmmm” sound.

For some, the egoic response might sound like “Ugggghhhh” followed by statements that lead us down a spiral of doubts, fear, and worry.

All of a sudden we feel like we’re dancing with two left feet! This is so common. It is also important to remember that our hearts have a way of pulling us back into that YES.

Again, trust is the theme here.

The soul makes YES a statement, the ego makes it a question.

Anytime you find yourself questioning your choices, be gentle with yourself.

Questions are a very human thing. By nature, we are curious beings and we like to ask those questions to have a better sense of what the future might look like.

However, the soul knows that the magic happens in the realm of the unknown.

When we are in that state of flow and receptivity, we can reach higher levels of growth . Come back to your heart. State your YES– loud and proud!

Ultimately, this dance isn’t about silencing the ego; it’s about just gently softening the ego to synchronize to its counterpart– the high vibrational soul.

The less we resist and relax the ego, we can better access the heart. And the heart will direct us home within ourselves, our truest self.
